Farmers’ Share (Bread)

The U.S. Department of Agriculture estimates that only 11.6 cents of every consumer dollar spent on food goes to farmers. Overall, food processors and retailers get a bigger cut than farmers do. The gap between what you pay and what farmers get paid is even wider for some foods like bread, cereal, snacks, cheese and meat.
